Do I need a doctor referral to book?

No. Most patients self-refer. A referral is only required if your insurance plan specifically asks for one — we can let you know when you book.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No referral is required to see a physiotherapist in Ontario. Some extended health insurance plans may require one for reimbursement, so it is helpful to check your individual policy.

What if my condition is not listed?

The page highlights common concerns rather than every possible diagnosis. Contact the clinic and describe your symptoms so the team can help determine whether physiotherapy is an appropriate place to begin.

Can physiotherapy help if the pain has been present for a long time?

Physiotherapy may help improve movement, function, strength, pacing, and confidence for persistent pain. Your assessment will identify realistic goals and the most appropriate approach for you.

What happens during the first assessment?

Your physiotherapist reviews your history and goals, evaluates relevant movement and physical function, explains the findings, and discusses a personalized treatment plan.

Will treatment be the same for everyone with the same condition?

No. Similar symptoms can have different contributing factors. Treatment is adapted to your assessment findings, health history, goals, and response to care.
